Rounds of ideation called for identifying multiple embodiments of various possible concepts. This process allowed me to narrow my design objective down to a few concepts in which I would be happy moving forward with. Many models, sketches, and reality checks later, I narrowed my design problem down to a single objective: bringing greater accessibility to outdoor trails.

Existing wheelchairs continue to disappoint in trail settings. Most wheelchairs that exist today are made for indoor use (smaller frame, lighter build, lack of suspension, etc.). Any current outdoor mobility solutions lack the capability of handling any extremely rough terrain: they can’t overcome obstacles greater than a couple inches, lack automatic propulsion, extremely unstable, and are straight up uncomfortable.
Design a mobility device that can handle rough mountain terrain and rejoin disabled adventurers to the wilderness
